18th October Sunday guided practice with the Maestros and Argentinean “Asado” lunch

Sunday 18th October: Argentinean “Asado” dinner and guided practice with the Maestros.

On the Sunday from 1pm, just like last year, we are organising a farewell event to say goodbye to people until we see them the following year: the dinner will consist of a typical Argentinean “Asado” (barbecue), wine, cooling drinks, water, salads, deserts, coffee, tea and mate. It will be followed by a guided practice with the Maestros. Note that pre-booking is necessary.

Son Termens, where the Friday and the Saturday Milongas take place, is ideal to spend a day: it is a medieval farmhouse of the 15th century, a unique and beautiful place. If you want to see pictures or have more information, visit www.sontermens.com This is also where we will have a friendly guided practice with the Maestros: a pleasant informal moment, to enjoy, try a few steps, make friends and more importantly have fun!

Cost of the Asado and guided practice is 35€.

Tai Chi classes for tangueros

Tai-Chi teacher Niall O Floinn (www.chentaichiireland.com) will run one special class each morning of the festival teaching us the core essence of original Tai-Chi movement .

The oldest form, Chen Style which all major styles evolved from contains many movement principles that are used or can be used in Tango, especially the more recent developments
and use of dynamics, energy and spirals.

The classes will cover 5 themes

1] Opening the joints and freeing the body from tension

2] Using the ground and the body's centre when moving

3] Harmony of opposites{yin and yang movements}

4] Whole body internal spirals and external circular movement

5] The mind and breath and movement as one

These themes will be interconnected through all 4 classes and dancers have a unique opportunity to gain new insights into their body and movement, learning exercises they can continue to practice which will help improve

1] Balance and precision of movement

2]Disassociation and flexibility

3] Sensitivity and sensory-motor awareness

4]Deep relaxation and internal connection

5]Core strength and whole body muscular communication

Our Tai-Chi teacher for the festival,Niall O Floinn, not only is passionate and highly knowledgeable about Tai-Chi with 14 years experience training with Chinas top masters,he also is crazy about dance and rythm. With a combined 10 years experience between African and Latin percussion,Cuban Salsa and Rumba and Argentinian Tango Niall brings a vast amount of experience, energy and skills to share with us and will be great fun to work with and learn from.
